Has anyone of you the Nikon Coolpix 5900? I plan to buy it. Looks pretty good from what I was reading; |

This is one of the less expensive units, Kodak cx7530. I tried editing out the redeye but it made her eyes look wierd. Sorta dull grey, I prefered the red.

I wanted originally also buy one that is cheaper. But when they told me that I have to go to india for 3 to 5 weeks, to give some onsite training to our (potential) new 'business partner' (they called it a synergy project, but in fact it is an out tasking project), I eventually decided to spend a bit more. Hope to get some good pictures over there.
Even though my 280 Euro camera is nothing compared with the other ones they had |

Sebastian,
I just bought the Nikon Coolpix 5900 on recommendation of a coworker who spent literally months researching digital cameras (he showed me his excel spreadsheet to prove it!) and decided the Coolpix was the best choice. I figured why do all the legwork when he's already done it, so I just took his advice and bought the same thing.
I took it with me to Germany last week and took some great shots with it. I really like the scene settings, because it gives you guide marks on the view finder to help you frame the picture depending on the type of photo you are taking. And I took some short movies with it, and after hooking it up to my big screen and watching them at home, I must say I'm thoroughly impressed. Every bit as good as a camcorder.
I don't think you can go wrong with the 5900...

I finally also bought it yesterday evening.
Good to hear you are happy with it, too.
It is amazing how many different things it does for you. I like also this landscape settings, and the little 'picture adjustment helps'.
I am realy looking forward to take photos of some more exciting things than my toes with it, soon 
If you had told me you are comming to germany (I guess your flight was landing in Frankfurt?), I had invited you for a beer.

Yes, I did land in Frankfurt but we didn't hang around long before driving out to the Rheinhotel Dressen near Bad Godesburg. I had completely forgotten you were in Frankfurt or I may have taken you up on that beer! Although I must say the best thing I had in Germany wasn't beer, but the bratwurst. Of course it was a very hot day and I did have a beer to wash it down with so maybe it really was the beer

I think Bratwurst is one of the things Germany is still leader on
It wouldn't surprise me by the way, if you don't like our beer. It is so different from American beer. The American beers I know (Anheuser Bush, Millers) are more like lemmonade compared with German beers. There are majour differences between the Germand beers, though. |

By the way have you tried the Kronenbourg 1664 ?

You know I realize that to some, American beer is like sex in a canoe but I happen to like it just the way it is regardless of who thinks it's close to water.

Yes Hefeweizen is in fact my favourite. But only the bavarian ones (that's BTW where the Sauerkraut is from )
Never tried Kronenbourg. But I should. If you ever get the chance, you need to try Schwabenbraeu, or even Rothaus. I would anyway recommend going for the local beers rather then the 'mainstream' ones like Becks or Warsteiner. My experiece is that local beers are usually way better.
I got a joboffer in Muenchen the other day. But I eventually didn't take it. Munich is a georgeous town. The girls over there are amazing. And the beer is just excellent. But back to the pont... In the Hofbraeuhaus, they have in the toiletts, extra devices for the people who drunk to much. I have never ever seen before an extra thing to puke in... Seriously.

Well american beers are nice. They are not as bitter as german ones. And they don't make you feel drunk . In fact I was tempted to buy some Anheuser Bush on Saturday. But they didn't have any at my local beer dealer. |
