Hi all,
I am using WBIMB 5.0 with WMQ 5.3. CSD05 installed.
I have been using them for some time in a local user having Administrator rights. But as I was trying out a database access in a message flow, MQ Series stopped working. I am able to start MQ Series, but when I start the MQ Services and MQ Explorer, it says, user doesnt have authorities to start the service. The user id I had a logged in as, was the same user id I have been using for more than a month now, and it HAS administrative rights. It is also a member of all the sets of groups created by MQ and WMBIMB, like mqm, mqbrkrs, etc.
Also, I saw that, all the folders in my hard disk (2 drives), became ReadOnly, but I was able to create new folders or write to a file and save it with the folders. When I unchecked the ReadOnly property of the folders, including sub folders, and then refreshed the folder, again it becomes Read Only. It is the same for any user who logs in to my system. (Very peculiar, but very sad too...)
Back to the original problem, when I open the Explorer, or the Services, I cannot see the Queue Managers, the Queues, etc...I get the message, AMQ4100 - user doesnot have sufficient rights to start the service. Contact System Administrator. I checked the system Event log, but that also said user is not authenticated to start the service. MQ Services, in the Windows System Services console shows started, but the MQ Explorer and MQ Services are not starting. Our system administrator couldnt help me any better. What could be the reason for this, and any solutions will be appreciated very much!!!
In case, I have to reinstall MQ, how will it affect WBIMB. Should I reinstall all the softwares like WBIMB, and the fix packs again? During installation of WBIMB, some queues are created by the system. How will it affect them? Please help.
Thanks in advance!!!

I think the problem is not with your user rights and group memberships.
It is that the volume is read only. if the MUSR_MQADMIN or other MQ service user can't write to it's files, MQ isn't going to be happy.
So solve the problem of your read only, and then see what other problems remain. Reinstalling MQ likely won't help.
But if you do reinstall MQ, then as long as you recreate the qmgrs exactly the way they were, you won't have to do anything with Broker. Use saveqmgr and amqoamd to back up your configuration just in case. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Hi Jeff,
Thanks a lot for the response. I did not have to reinstall MQ. The fact was that, in the XP Dcomcnfg, the user id and password was set to my domain user id and password, which I had changed. I had provided the local user id and password while installing MQ, but I dont know how the dcomcnfg had the user id and password set. It had not worked because the password had got changed. Now, we set the user to any user in the system (interactive user) and it worked. I got all the queue managers as they were.
Thanks again!
