The SupportPac extends the ability of the WebSphere MQ Explorer to examine your MQ configuration and look for potential problems. Using an Eclipse-style "Problems View", the Healthcheck highlights errors and makes recommendations from within WebSphere MQ Explorer - alongside your MQ object definitions.
The closest alternative I am aware of is to use a v6 Explorer with Healthcheck installed and connect it to a v5.3 queue manager. That would let you run the checks on a v5.3 queue manager.
