Hi all,

When installing WBIMB, is it possible to run the install program and produce a log that can be used for future documentation?

I think there is a log. Check in the installation directory.

I also think you can produce a response file, but I'm not positive.

That's for MQ, not for Broker.

I'm sure it applies, as well.

But I think there's an install log as well.

There should be an 'mqsi5.log' install log. The location depends on the platform: '/var/adm/sw' on AIX and HP, '/var/log' on Linux, and the install user's home directory on Solaris and Windows if I remember correctly.

To record a response file, use the '-options-record <response_file_name>' command line argument.

Hope that helps, James

Thanks for all the responses.
What I was after was something that would give all the screen shots and responses to put in a document and to almost have an installation document for dummies.

I would recommend that you create a response file for use in future installs. Then you can document running a silent install using the reponse file (e.g. -silent -options yourfile.txt) instead of an interactive install. That way, you don't need to worry about documenting the screen shots, plus you can be more confident that all future installs will be the same.

If, however, you still want the screen shots, you won't be able to create them using the install directly. Instead, on Windows, you would need to run through the install and do an Alt+PrtSc to grab an image of each panel, which can then be pasted into Paint and saved as an image, or possibly pasted directly into your document depending on what you're writing it in.

Regards, James
