I have installed mqseries v5.1 on windows xp. The installation went fine. When I try to create a queue manager from the MQSeries Explorer, it says Creating Queue Manager and sits pretty on that screen for ever .
1. I would like to know if this version of MQSeries is any good with Windows XP.
2. If they are compatible, I would like to know if I need to some settings before I create a Queue manager
Thanks for your help in advance. |

You'd be lucky to get 5.2 working on XP. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Why not do the right thing and get the current version of MQ? _________________ Peter Potkay

What do you mean.
That version of the product has not been there since I started working on MQ. IBM is not even supporting that version. Even 5.2 is out of support for almost 2 years now. Why would your boss want you to use 5.1 then? |

There have been so many problems fixed between 5.1 to 5.2 and 5.2 to 5.3 that I would think the savings in problem determination on your end would more than justify the cost. |

I do frequently and they back me all the way. They expect me to keep them current and certainly to keep them off old and unsupported version.
It really isn't a big deal to keep current with MQ...especially on a new 'pie'. |
