I am trying to delete an user"xyz' out of Buildtime. I am trying to first "mark to delete".
I did not find the menu item called " mark to delete". Then I realized that "xyz" is a "mgr1"
and is authorized to view the work items of "A123""B456".
I open the properties for "xyz" and deleted the associations and now "xyz" is neither a manager
nor can see the work itmems of others.
I have closed build time and opened it again. But I still do not find the menu item calld "mark to delete"
Is there some thing wrong? |

Select your person "xyz" From the menu pick Object Status then Mark for Deletion. This will mark the user for Delete in Buildtime. If you then export this entry and import into runtime it will attempt to delete "xyz" from the Runtime Database.
This will still cause the issue that you will not be able to delete "xyz" until you re-assign his manager attribute to another user. _________________ John McDonald

Jmac,
Thanks for the reply.
All I can see were "Reset to default"/Update/New/Question. I do not see the option "Mark to delete" on the "object status". Like I mentioned I made sure that "xyz" is neither a manager nor aurhtorized to view others work. |

The only time I have ever seen that option not shown in the menu is for the System Administrator. So I suspect 1 of 2 things:
1) "XYZ" is defined as the System Administrator (check under roles) if so he can not be deleted until another user is assigne as SA.
2) You are not looking at the proper menu. The menu you want is in the menu bar only if you are on the Staff Tab and have a Person Object higlighted. Are you maybe looking at the Object Status under the Buildtime menu item in the menu bar? _________________ John McDonald

I checked this and "XYZ" is not a SA. As mentioned the user is assigned to "mgr1" role, I have made sure that it is now no longer assoiciated with the role

I am at the staff tab, higlighted another user "abc", I could see the option 'mark to delete" on the objst status but when I highlight "xyz", I am not seeing the option.
Please let me know if you want me to further explain.
Thanks |

OK... now I see what it is.... You are using Organizations and you have this user assigned as the manager of the organization. When that is the case you can not delete the user. You must assign another user as the manager before you can delete "xyz"
NOTE: I did find that when I reassigned a new manager I had to restart buildtime before it recognized that xyz was no longer the manager. _________________ John McDonald
