I have to reinstall MQ, without losing my current MQ object data.
All the QM and LOG data is in a directory called /mq/qmgs....

Actual MQ code is instaled in /var/mqm/mqs.ini Etc.

MQS.INI points to /mq; /mq/log

Also i see a directory structure /usr/mqm/bin ... i dont understand what is this. The mq install guides say MQ is installed in /var/mqm path.

My OS is AIX.

Could you please shed some light on this.

Thanks
TC Venkatesan

Standard install on AIX
Program in /usr/mqm/*
Data in /var/mqm/*
Read /var/mqm/mqs.ini it points to standard default paths for the data and logs however this can be changed on an ongoing basis. Existing qmgrs are registered in mqs.ini and their respective data and log paths are registered there as well. And they may differ from the default!
In your case your mq data is probably in /mq/qmgrs/<qmgr_name>
and your logs in /mq/log/<qmgr_name> as specified in your mqs.ini

Now due to your unique setup I hope you did not tinker too much with the standard setup.

Enjoy

You can uninstall and install and your data will not be gone anywhere.
You can use saveqmgr and saveauth support pacs to bakup objects and their authorities.
