Hi all,
Has anyone any experiences / opinions on what the best product is for WBIMB change management and code control in a multi user envrionment .
I've seen some of the posts on this subject but no real product seems to be the stand out one.
CVS being open source would be attractive but the following quote worries me

Also there seems to be an issue with virus software and CVSNT on W2k |

Has anyone experienced this?
Is the ROI good enough to purchase a product like PVCS?

I haven't heard of any specific issues using cvsnt as a server.
But if there are known, specific issues, they should be documented on the CVSNT website.
The only thing to be careful about with CVS in new installations, is that the Broker Toolkit CVS plug-in doesn't support the most recent versions of CVS.
So if you install CVS, and try to use it from the Broker Toolkit, and it doesn't work, then try a back version of CVS. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I prefer CVS because Eclipse comes with a built in plug-in for CVS. You dont have to run your cvs repository on NT and therefore use CVSNT. You can create a repository on any Unix box. CVS had been around more than any other solution out there and is very reliable but there is a pretty steep learning curve if you are going to be responsible for managing the repository. You should expect to feel frustrated for a week or two. Best place to learn about cvs is here. https://www.cvshome.org/docs/manual/
Also your toolkit help type in cvs and will give you lots of useful help files on how to perform various cvs activities using eclipse cvs front end. _________________ Mikhail Malamud
