Hi,
I've found that after starting a channel yesterday (Thurs Midday), I came in today morning to find the same channel in a STOPPED state. I see something in the logs that that shows the channel ending normally but right before that, there is an entry for a disconnect interval expired:
02/03/2005 14:14:27
AMQ9545: Disconnect interval expired.
EXPLANATION:
Channel 'ABC' closed because no messages arrived on the
transmission queue within the disconnect interval period.
ACTION:
None.
02/03/2005 14:14:28
AMQ9001: Channel program ended normally.
EXPLANATION:
Channel program 'ABC' ended normally.
ACTION:
None.
I've seen these entries at least twice in the log. Can someone explain to me the cause of the channel being in a stopped state?
Thanks. |

Thes emessages are perfectly normal. This means you have a disconnect intervel specified ont he channel. When that interval passes MQ will flag quiecse the channel and put it into an inactive state. (not stopped)
Something else is issuing a stop for that channel. Is there a closedown script that is getting run when you stop the queue manager?
All this stuff is in a Intercommunciations Guide. |

Hi,
So, if it says "Closed", it means the channel is inactive and if it says "Ended", it means the channel has stopped?
I understand that at 14:14:27, the channel went into an Inactive state. However, I do not understand why at 14:14:28, the channel ended...any thoughts? Could the other remote Queue Manager be issuing some kind of stop command/message?
Thanks. |

At the top of this screen is a documentation button. Click on it. Then click on the Intercommunication Manual. And read it. If you read this manual, it will explain soooooooooooo much about how MQ works, and you won't have all these channel questions.
Print out the pdf version, sit down, and read this manual. Once anyone has a clue about what MQ is basically, they should read the Intercommunication Manual. I feel it is the most helpful manual there is about MQ and how it "works". _________________ Peter Potkay
