Hi All,

I just upgrade MQ5.3 csd03 to csd07 on AIX. Do I need to rebound my LPAR in order for the latest patch to work properly?

Thanks in Advance

I don't know what rebound does but if it is something on the mainframe that has to be done, then most likely we don't have to do anything because you have applied the fix on AIX

Not if you only upgraded MQ on the AIX Server. You shouldn't have to IPL a remote LPAR on a MainFrame because you didn't upgrade it.

Um, you did stop all the MQManagers on the AIX Server before you ran the installation of CSD07, didn't you?

Normally, it will not allow you install the CSD if MQ (or any amq process) is running.

Yeah, I know smitty/installp will tell you it failed but sometime people don't pay real good attention. I am not saying that this was the case here.

I was just trying to imagine why one would think they would need to IPL a remote mainframe LPAR after installing an upgrade on an AIX Server.

Sometimes, people use M/F terms on non-M/F platform. The other day I heard someone say "I need to IPL my PC".

Indeed they do, "rebound my LPAR" was an entirely new one on me.
