My company is looking at installing MQ5.3 onto there file and print servers which are running Windows 2003 AD and are domain controllers. The Server team has said that there was problems with MQ running on W2003 Active Directory if the servers are also DC's?
Can anybody let me know if they have any issues with this architecture?

Can't say for sure if there would be specific problems (there shouldn't be) mixing it on DCs but it does run fine on 2003 on member servers.
If at all possible, I would not install it on the DCs in your domain. The DCs have process/AD overhead to deal with which MAY present problems if you intend to push MQ to its limits or your domain is heavily populated/utilized.
You should find out what other processes are running on those DCs? What are the utilization rates? What are the traffic patterns/peak load patterns (network and MQ)? Do they coincide with when printing/file access is heavily utilized? Do you have available free disks to install MQ and store logs? When is most of your MQ traffic generated and does it fall around times when most people are coming in/leaving for the day (log on/off and profile synch issues etc)? Lots of questions to ask that need answers from your server team will likely have more of a factor on your decision rather than will MQ have conflict with AD DCs?
Better to not deal with it and just put MQ on member servers. Performance will be better in the long run.
