Hi,
I have XP SP2 and I am trying to install WMQ 5.3 (from original disc).
I am getting an error which i can't work out why.
The error i am getting, is when the installation progress bar is near completion, then it bombs out with - "problems occurred. Review the MSI log file for details. (AMQ4739) "
WHen i look in the log file, i see the following - "MQCA iwiDirectAddPerfMonExec info: ***Unacceptable exit code from 'amqiperf.exe'"
any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Hi
Thanks for that. i read the instructions on that link, and found that i only had 1 of those 2 services on my pc., and it was not started. I also checked for any processes using that file perf?009.dat file as the link suggested with handle.exe, and again no processes were holding that file.
So i tried again, ensuring that my anti virus software AVG was turned off, that the performance monitor was not monitoring anthing. I renamed the perf?009.dat files which i found in c:\winnt\system32, and still when i installed the WMQ 5.3 it fails with the same error.
To be more concise in what i am doing; when i run the installation form the disc, it fails with the dialog box, suggesting to look at the MSI log. I could not find this file. I then ran the install by doing:
msiexec /i "IBM WebSphere MQ.msi" /l c:\temp\logfile.txt
and it is by the above command, when i interrogated the logfile that i noticed the error message about "***Unacceptable exit code from 'amqiperf.exe'"
I have also noticed that before the above error there is another error that states not finding the amqilogn.txt file. Does this assist you or anybody else in getting to the bottom of why i can't perform a succesful installation of this product:
1: 00:52:59 MQCA iwiDirectAddPerfMonExec info: Can't find 'F:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\amqilogn.txt'
iwiDirectAddPerfMonExec: F:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\amqilogn.txt

1: 00:52:59 MQCA iwiDirectAddPerfMonExec info: ***Unacceptable exit code from 'amqiperf.exe'
1: 00:52:59 MQCA iwiDirectAddPerfMonExec info: Splash bitmap not running
1: 00:52:59 MQCA iwiDirectAddPerfMonExec info: MQCA iwiDirectAddPerfMonExec MB error: One or more problems occurred. Review the MSI log file for details. (AMQ4739)
1: MQCA iwiDirectAddPerfMonExec MB error: One or more problems occurred. Review the MSI log file for details. (AMQ4739)
1: 00:52:59 MQCA iwiDirectAddPerfMonExec info: Property 'UILevel' value '5'; from CustomActionData
Thanks again for you assistance

Hi
I have solved the problem, at least managed to install the software successfully.
What I did was run the antivirus software to ensure no viruses were on my PC. I then installed a ad/spy ware software onto my PC, and when i ran the software. The ad/spy software found 412 items, a few of which were labelled as malware. All of these items were subsequently removed.
I then decided to performed the WMQ 5.3 CD install again, and it completed successfully.
So i assume a suggestion to try and get over the problems that i was having, is to ensure all/most viruses or ad/spy ware are removed from your PC before installing WMQ 5.3 on XP SP2
Thank you all

Um Ok but....
Don't do that. The problem you posted and the resolution appear to be mutually exclusive.
The fact that your AV software found no viruses and the Ad/Spyware you downloaded found and removed 412 hits probably has nothing to do with your ability to install MQSeries.
This is like saying, "I had a really bad headache but then I took a shower. Then after I took the shower the headache went away. So taking a shower must cure headaches."
But hey, if you are happy, I am happy.

I wouldnt say unrelated, just not a link I (we) have made before. The problem you hit was that we tried to install the performance counters and an error ensued. This is treated as a fatal error and this bombs out. So basically someone, somewhere held onto the counters causing the problem. This could have been some spyware.
FWIW You are not the only person to have suffered from this particular install problem, and there was a patch from IBM Service to ignore the return code from this function as most people dont really need/use the performance counters option anyway (and it can be installed by hand later on, worst case) |
