I have recently created a new MQManager on an existing MQServer that is basically a duplicate of the existing Quality Assurance MQManager that is supposed to support a Training Environment.

For the sake of argument I will call the exising MQManager PQA and the new MQManager I created EDU.

Recently I renewed the Cert for PQA. The CMS database for this Cert resides in /var/mqm/qmgrs/PQA/ssl and it is the Default Certificate.

My Question is, do I need to Create another SSL ServerCert.cer for the EDU MQManager or should I have the EDU MQManager point to the existing Cert in /var/mqm/qmgrs/PQA/ssl that PQA is using?

The things that are bothering me are:

A: in the past when I renewed the Signer Certificates (root_ca.cer and *_ca.cer) in the past it would always fail unless I deleted all the existing instances of the (root_ca.cer and *_ca.cer) regardless of the Label.

B: when I Recieve the Personal ServerCert.cer it always asks if I want to make the Cert the default.

I am assuming that I should point the new EDU MQManager to the Cert that the PQA MQManager using since (as far as I know) the Personal and Signer Certificates is for the Server itself and not MQManager specific.

Am I wrong in this assumption?

and I thought the label should be ibmwebspheremqqmgrnameinlowercase as stated in the security manual!. That also does suggest it is queue manager specific and not server specific.

Ok yeah, well this year I named the new Cert ibmwebspheremqqmgrname2004 which would lead me to think that the SSL Cert is Manager specific and the IBM Certificate Management Tool did allow me to create it using the new ServerCert.cer with the unique name but.

If I creat a new Cert for the EDU MQManager what will happen if I click "NO" when it asks if said Cert should be the default? Indeed what happens if I click "YES"? I am sure it will ask.

Then like I said before, what about the when I renewed the Signer Certificates (root_ca.cer and *_ca.cer) it would always fail unless I deleted all the existing instances of the (root_ca.cer and *_ca.cer) regardless of the Label. What will happen if I delete the existing GTE CyberTrust and Company Certificate Authority Certificate. Or do I need to?
