In V5, we are looking for a way to import more than one project at a time. If you choose Import Existing Project, it only allows you to do one at a time but it re-creates the project in your workspace. If you try to import several via the file system import, you have to have an existing project/folder but we want separate projects witout having to manually create them in the toolkit. On p. 42 of the Diagnosis manual, it looks as though there is a way to import a .zip file without having to import into an existing project but this doesnt seem to work...any ideas as to why or if this is possible?

Have you tried simply putting copies of the project folders in your workspace folder?

yes and that does not work - basically we want to be able to have developers who are having problems send us their message sets/flows projects and not have to manually create projects and import them one by one.

I don't think it is possible to import multiple projects into the workspace simultaneously.

Copying them into the into the workspace folder doesn't help because you stil have to import them into the workspace.

You can import a zip file but only into an existing project.

If you do find a way to do it then please post it here as I'm sure there are many people who would love to know (me included) but sadly I do not think there is a way.

Based on the Diagnosis Manual (p 42) it seems as though you should be able to do it but those steps dont work. I have a call into support about it but dont have much hope

You might want to look into putting in some sort of version control system, like CVS.

Not only will this allow you to better manage your development, it will also allow you to retrieve multiple projects from CVS simultaneously into your workspace.

The other thing to do is have the developers give you their entire workspace (or a new workspace that only contains the projects you need). If you have the .metadata folder as well as the project folders, then all you need to do is either replace your local workspace folder with the new one or use the -data option to mqsistudio.

A Source Control product is being used but each group/dept manages their own. They way they want to migrate from V2.1 to V5 is to have one group do the migration to V5 so they can make any naming standard modifications before shipping them to the developers. I have spoken to IBM regarding the fact that only one project can be imported at a time and we are in the process of raising a requirement for this to be included in a future CSD. I was told its a limitation in Eclipse not WBIMB.

Hi,

After putting the project files in workspace...you need to add the projects to the Toolkit...try using add Existing projects....

Thanks,
Chandra.

That works but to do that you have to do one project at a time and that is what we are trying to avoid having to do.
