Hi,
- we are migrating unix platforms (clients & servers) which are 5.2
- i saw that uninstalling mqs 5.2 on a client or a server leaves files and directories on disc especially in /var/mqm
- do we need to delete all these info before installing mqs 5.3 ???
- no pb if we leave all of them ???
thanks to experienced people on that subjet for advices
cheers

No problem. You may wanna read the migration section of the Quick Beginnings of your platform.
If you leave /var/mqm then you don't have to recreate QMGRs and MQ objects. Otherwise you will have to. It is better not to delete /var/mqm |

The short answer is that you do not need to delete files in /var/mqm, however you really do need to read the sections on migrating in the Quick Beginnings manual for the OS you are working with. That should answer all your questions, for example, from Chapter 3 of the Quick Beginnings for HPUX at http://publibfp.boulder.ibm.com/epubs/html/amqcac05/amqcac05tfrm.htm

Migrating from an earlier version
Always backup the /var/mqm directory before starting to migrate from a version of MQSeries for HP-UX.
To migrate to WebSphere MQ for HP-UX, V5.3:
1. End all queue manager activity on the target machine.
2. Uninstall the old MQSeries product as described in Uninstallation procedure. Do not delete the /var/mqm directory tree if you want to retain existing MQSeries information, for example your queue manager data.
3. Uninstall the MQSeries SupportPac MA88, if installed
4. Install WebSphere MQ for HP-UX, V5.3 as described in Installation procedure.
Differences between WebSphere MQ for HP-UX, V5.3 and versions of MQSeries are described in Migrating from an earlier version. |
