Question:
The expiry property on mqmd for a MQ message. How does it work?
My understanding currently is that it is set in msecs. And at every hop, the expiry time decreases . However, during test, we see that the message lasts in the queue much longer than what we set it .
Please advise |

This is not a WMQI specific question.
Have you searched the forums for 'Expiry'? Have you looked in the Application Programming Guide?
Please take some time to do research before asking simple questions.
Messages do not expire until someone tries to get them. Ever. Except on z/OS. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

One thing to note with expiry:

A queue's curdepth includes messages which are expired. They only get removed from the queue when the queue manager happens to scan by an expired message. Eg. put with short expiry, let it expire, dis ql(*) curdepth shows 1, but amqsbcg shows nothing, and then dis ql(*) curdepth shows 0. |
