I installed MQ Series 5.3.0.2 with Server and Java Messaging ticked off. When I tried to apply the fix pack CSD05, I get the following error:

"You cannot install the Windows Client from the client CD because the WebSphere MQ Server components are already installed on this computer. To install the Windows Client (WHICH I DON'T WANT TO) on this computer, use the server CD (AMQ4729)"

This fix pack is a requirement for the WebSphere InterChange Server.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure you have windows fp5? Where did you get it from? That msg sounds like it comes from the macv install.

I'm running Windows 2000 Professional SP4. The fix pack CSD05 that I downloaded from IBM is entitled "macvEnUS.exe" is about 75 MB. It seems quite big for a fix pack

Maybe I downloaded the wrong file ... ?

Sean,

Think you are downloading the wrong file. FP5 is approximately 22MB.

I somehow downloaded the client instead of the fix-pack. I installed CSD 06 and it worked like a charm.
