Hi Grand Masters/Masters/ Gurus,
I have been following the thread (does it bother you…). I am not asking this question because I am lazy to read the docs. I searched the mqseries.net and google a lot and did not get any useful info. Hence I am turning to you guys again. Please help.
We have a single Solaris Server with Prd QM (QM1) on it. We are now planning to get one more server so that the servers can be clustered.
My questions:
- Should the QM on server2 also have the same name so that when one server goes down the second server can pick it up? I mean, does server2 has a replica of QM1 (on server1)?
- On which server should I see the logs?
How should I design my QMs and MQ objects.
Is there any documentation somewhere?

Which kind of clustering are you asking about. MQ Clustering, for load balancing. Or hardware clustering, for failover. That's the 1st question. With the answer to this, then perhaps, we can provide more information.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. We want to do a hardware cluster and not mq cluster.

Good!
now I don't have any extended search capabilty... but do know there is a button below the search terms saying 'Search for all terms'
using failover and clustering found the following as the fourth entry in the list, that will shed some light on your problem!

I work largely in an AIX environment and I know this can be done with IBM HACMP on AIX.
I am sure that there must be software that serves the same purpose for Solaris but to try and answer your question I believe the MQManager would name on your hot standby HA clustered server would have to same name as the Primary.
Just a quick question though. Will this Standby server be for Hot Production failover locally or is the Standby server supposed to be a Disaster recovery sever at a remote data center?
If it is supposed to be a remote DR server you have all kinds of bandwidth issues to consider. _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial. |
