Hi,
I've been attempting to install Agent Controller on AIX so that we can use debug on our broker but I'm having real problems.
The install seems to hang right at the end but looks as if all the files have been copied over except the serviceconfig.xml. If I copy one over from Win NT and change a few settings in it I can get the RAStart.sh command to execute successfully but no execution groups show up when connecting from the toolkit.
Has anyone got this to install OK? Any pointers? I can't find any decent information anywhere!
Regards,
Derek.

Here's the documentation on it:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wsphelp/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.etools.logging.util.doc/tasks/teacadmi.htm
Make sure the RAC is started first, then start the brokers. You might need to stop brokers and get this running first, then start and restart what you like. I had a hard time getting it picked up on AIX initially also. FYI - The port can't be changed (on the toolkit end) in the current release, so you need to leave it at 10002 for now, if that matters to you. Also, I can't get the enqueue or dequeue to work at this point. I've got a case open on that. I can let you know what I find out. Let me know if you are still stuck after this and I should be able to help. _________________ Thanks!!!

Still having problems unfortunately!
What I've done is :
Install RAC (using root)
run SetConfig.sh (java at /usr/java131/bin, gsk at /usr/IBMRAC/gsk, no security, no WAS5 path, "ALL" allowed access)
Started the RAServer (./RAStart.sh)
Started my broker
Attached to my Host (broker) in the "Flow Debug" perspective (I'm not using the RAD stuff). This works fine on WinNT.
It seems to connect OK (servicelog.log shows an accepted connection) but not show any execution groups to choose from for debugging.
When I look at the WinNT servicelog.log it shows the individual agents registering with the Agent Controller....my AIX log is missing this. It seems as if the execution groups are not registering on AIX.
Any ideas would be gratefully received!! I can't believe the lack of WBIMB specific documentation in this area!
Regards,
Derek. |

What IDs are you running the broker and the RAC under on AIX? I run them under my mqsi ID for both. Try that if you are not... _________________ Thanks!!!

Hi Paul,
Thanks for getting back to me!
I was running the RAC under root and mqsi under my mqsi userid....I've tried it with both running under the mqsi userid and it's still not showing any of the execution groups...
Cheers,
Derek. |

Not sure what else to tell you at this point. If I think if anything I'll let you know. Did you open a case for this one? _________________ Thanks!!!

Thanks for the help Paul....I think I'll raise a PMR (to go along with the 4 others I have at the moment!!! ) I think one of the biggest problems is really the lack of good documentation for RAC (and quite a few other things as well)...
I'll let you know what was wrong when I get it sorted!
Cheers,
Derek. |

IBM have provided me with a new version of the agent controller and it works fine now! Here's what they said:
Quote: |
Derek,
there is a known problem with the RAC which results in a hang
during
installation. This is down to the fact that it was packaged with ISMP 4.51.
It
has since been repackaged with 4.53 and the reported hang no longer occurs.

Thanks for all the help Paul.....much appreciated!

Derek. |

Paul,
Just for info....there are some shared memory allocation errors showing in the servicelog.log file even though the RAC seems to be working OK. Obviously I have no idea if they were there previously.
I've asked IBM to confirm that these are OK(!) before closing the PMR...I'll let you knwo what they say.
Regards,
Derek. |
