Both platforms have their perks...
What platform does the application run on?
Do you want MQ to be as near as possible to the application?

I would prefer the linux env. But it requires a little more upfront work to
get the queue manager to startup/shutdown with the system.

I should have given a little more information in the first place, sorry. We are looking at Redhat 3 Enterprise on an Intel server with 2GB RAM.

I am trying to come up with a list of compelling reasons for chosing Linux Redhat over W2K to put forward to management in deciding which O/S to chose. At this stage there are a number of people who are skilled in Unix (AIX predominately) would like to use Linux over W2K. There is the O/S comparisons between linux and windows so I am looking for differences of running MQ over both these platforms.

Thanks again.
Ian

There must be a far greater installed base for MQ on Windows than on Linux. Probably easier to hire people with Windows skills.

Clustering support is almost certainly more developed for Windows than Linux - I mean H/W and O/S clustering not MQ clustering.

Linux is probably more stable over a long period of time. Perhaps a better choice for a unclustered system.

You could install VMWare and have the choice of either or even both at the same time!
