hi
we are running wmq 5.2 and wmqi 2.1 (just controlcenter and configmgr) on a winNT-server. our system-admin would like to migrate winNT to win2000/20003, now.
Did anybody have some experience? whats the best way to this, in focus of wmq / wmqi? backup the configmgr-db or export all wmqi-objects?

All objects in MQSeries can should already be managed by your MQAdmin processes. If not go and get the support packs that create object definition files and authorization scripts from the supportPak site at IBM.
For MQSI all you need is to save all your work and configuration.
Basically I am saying it is easier to save all your work and configurations than to use soem fancy update utility... Especially since you are moving to a new version of Windows.
Since yoru platform is windows it woudl be better to do a fresh install so the registry isn't messed up.
As long as you are not going to WBI 5 then just save your work and recreate your topology. Relying on fancy converstion schemes is shaky.
