Hi,

Iam trying to install a clustering setup and created 2 Qmanagers in a cluster and The channels created on Qmanager on port 1414 is running but whereas the channels creatd on Qmanager on port 1415 is not running how can we overcome this problem and moreover Iam able to put messages on a cluster queue but when Iam reading it back from the queue I have to specify the Qmanager name from which Iam reading this is there any way by which I can avoid this in the sense the messages are available on both the queues.

Thanks
Partha

1415 is not the default port. When you start up your listeners, you'll need to specify the port that they will use. You'll also need to make sure that all of your connection information (ie, the ip hostname) has the port of 1415 added to the end of it.

If your channels on one of your queue managers aren't starting up, hopefully there is an error message that will tell you why.

You can not get messages from a queue manager that is "remote" from the queue manager you are connected to. At all. Ever. MQSeries just doesn't do this.

If you have a queue Q1 that is local on both QMA and QMB which are clustered, and both QMA.Q1 and QMB.Q1 are shared in the cluster, and your application is connected to QMA, you will not be able to perform a get against QMB.Q1. At all. Ever.

Hi,

I really thank both of your comments it helps since I was under the impression that I am doing some thing wrong by not able to get the messages from the queue can you please suggest some alternative solution since the requirement at my clients place wants to implement Qmanager clusters for failover that is when Qmanager 1 is down then we should be able to get the messages from queue on Qmanager 2. I was having two Qmanagers and am running them on different ports and have the port numbers configured in the channel correctly but still Iam not able to get them running.
Thanks and I really appreiciate your reply's

Thanks
Partha

MQClustering doesn't give you failover support. It only gives you workload balancing.

You want hardware clustering - MSCS, Veritas, HACMP, whatever is appropriate for the platform you're running on.
