Hi all,

If customers complained there is a problem on server, how could you prove this problem is about database or system, not mqseries?

Which aspect could I do to check expect for log/error files?

Best Regards,

mqquester

You should first ask them if they have an MQSeries error, then check if FDC files are generated in the errors directory.
Try to run a sample program under the same condition as your complaining user do it ...

Well, I'd rather try to determine what the problem is, rather than try to prove it is not MQSeries

Is it a performance problem? Do you have any tools such as Candle or BMC?

I agree with the word "Determine".
For customer, they just report errors. Well, my focus is on mqseries. I am not an expert on database and OS system. If I don't know where the problem could be, what I can do is only on mq.
I heard someone mentioned grasper or something, anybody knows it? Is it a kind of determine tool?

WebSphere MQ System Admin Guide has a section on Problem Determination. That section should be able to help you determine the problem, whether it is MQ, network, or application.

Sometimes, it is too easy to just point to the other parties for fault. It is also a waste to run traces when in fact the problem is somewhere else.

Whatever it is, a good rule is to see if there is an mq error code returned from the application. The explanation from mqrc could give further aid. At the same time, the activities reported in the AMQERR01.LOG should suggest you something. If there were FDCs reported, then this should shed some lights. There a whole lot of things to consider. Better take a look at the manual and get your self going in the right direction.

Good luck.

Yes, I found the section.
It describes the detailed steps.
Great.
