Can DB/2 on OS/390 be used as an application database using the ODBC interface from a message broker running on AIX?
Is the answer different for MQSI 2.0.2, WMQI 2.1 and WBIMB 5.0?
I notice mention of DB/2 OS/390 support for WMQI 2.1 but I am not clear if that refers to use by message brokers themselves running on OS/390 or not.
If it can be used - presumably there is no XA support? |

You can acces to DB2 ZOS over ODBC / DB2 Connect. I had 2 Project with such konfiguration. I had call an UDF on DB2 ZOS and access Tables.

I've connected to a Z/OS DB2 (I think version 6!) from WMQI v2.1 running on Windows. I had to create a WMQI database user that matched a Z/OS user, though.
But I wasn't using globally coordinated transactions - just broker coordinated. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

That sounds like what I was expecting so reasonably hopeful. Thanks. |

We use DB2 connect (I think ) to read data from M/F DB2 tables. Our DBA has also created user mapping in our local DB2 UDB database so that we don't have to create the same user-id, which broker uses to access DB on the M/F. _________________ Kiran
