Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if there are ever opportunities for contracts which allow for a person to work remotely?
I work on IIB,Datapower and Process Server.
This is an initial investigation, just to see if there are possibilities. |

If you can find one, then it's possible
Taking one example which may not be representative:
We use off-shore (remote) developers for IIB & ProcessServer, but we don't allow them remote access to our site; we expect them to develop on their own installation and ship us the artifacts, which we then check, sanitize and test. We're moving away from this as we move to a more Agile process that requires all the developers to be collaborative and adjacent.
We've never allowed working remotely on DataPower; remote access to one of our network security layers never sat well with the security people.....
Looking back along my inglorious career, I've found that most clients (having discovered what I charge) wanted me onsite so they could micro manage me and limit the amount of coffee I drank on their time. With varying and limited levels of success.
YMMV, this example may not be typical, the value of your investment may go up as well as down, etc., etc. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

If I take a desk at a client site, I quickly find why none of the employees want to sit there
You're probably a much nicer person than me, with a kind & generous personality. Or at least a personality.
I keep meaning to get myself one. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Thank you very much, I must admit I am still getting used to the Agile way of things but you are correct that usually means being in the same location.
Thank you _________________ Thanks
