In common MQ speak, a gateway is a qmgr which is part of a cluster, BUT has non-cluster channels (SDR-RCVR) channels to/from a qmgr not part of the cluster.
My company makes things out of parts we buy from suppliers. We don't want supplier qmgrs to be part of our cluster, but we want the suppliers to be able to send us inventory inquiry messages to see if they need to ship more of whatever supplies we need. The gateway qmgr will need QRemote defs (shared in the cluster) to allow messages to leave the cluster on their way back to the suppliers.

hmm, the usage of these words (gateway, intersecting qmgr, overlapping )confuses me. Could you please these terms
1) overlapped cluster
2) Intersecting 2 clusters
3) using a gateway qmgr to connect to clusters |

Depending on whom you ask:
1. Two discrete clusters where PRs are in both, but messages cannot move from one cluster into the other cluster;
2. Clusters where some PRs are in multiple clusters, and messages can move between clusters via those ;
3. A cluster that has a clustered queue manager to which a non-clustered connects for getting messages to/from other non-clustered queue managers.
