are there any repercussions to creating 16MB log files - circular logging, with 4 primary, 3 secondary. instead of the deafult 1MB, 3 primary, 2 secondary. The hard drives are 30gig on the machines. what specs do most of you use?
thanks |

I do the following on my machines:
log file size of 16384
primary 40
secondary 23
LogBufferSize 512
This will use up about 4 GIG worth of space on your server, less than 15% in your case. Go for it, make them as big as you can! _________________ Peter Potkay

It tells the QM how much logging stuff to keep in memory before having to write it to disk. It improves performance. It is in megabytes, so only set it that high if you have the RAM to spare.
On UNIX it is in the qm.ini file, in Windows do a properties on the QM from Services. _________________ Peter Potkay
