I have two questions. One is where can I see the port number on which a QueueManager is listening? also I'm getting the following error when trying to start my sender channel
AMQ9520: Channel not defined remotely
Is this b'coz the port number is incorrect? I have the channel defined remotely on the other machine. Any pointers? thanks.

For the listener question. It depends on the platform, and how the listener is running. If it's via 'runqmlsr', then the command line that starts it could have a parameter to give the port. If it doesn't, then the default is 1414. If it's Windoze, and the listener is started via the GUI, then one of the tabs in the GUI has the value. If it's UN*X and using inetd, then it will be in the /etc/services file.
The error sounds more like the channel names don't match up. The name of the sender and receiver channels must be IDENTICAL.
