Hi Guys,
I would like to know how much resources a queue manager will consume such as CPU utilization, memory and so when it process messages. My lead(not an MB/IIB resource) told me to create new queue manager and integration node for my upcoming project. but one qmanager and integration node is already running in the server in which so many flows ni a different project are running. So I would like to know whether creating a new will impact server performance. I am planning to do this in my local winodws machine and then planning to extrapollite the resources to server level.
Any help/guidance is appreciated. |

Many Thanks jeff for the quick response.
I would like to try out the solution even if it is hard. Can you please give me a valid start. I have read through some articles in Infocenter regarding these but I was not able to kick off. The articles depicts the performance of messages and channels in queue managers. |

There a number of vendors whose software solutions capture statistics and accounting performance data both at the o/s- and MQ-levels. Search for these on google. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

You can also look for some old supportPacs that give you data... IS02? IS03?
And the current versions of IIB - v9 and 10 - have some performance data in the administration GUIs. _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |

MQ resource consumption is strongly tied to its usage pattern. eg. Size of messages, Persistent / NonPersistent, Transactional / NonTransactional, use of Client, use of Java / JMS, Average queue depths, Get next versus Get by CorrelId / MsgId / Property, Use of Pub/Sub patterns, Use of Channels / MQ Clustering. I suggest that you run a POC or Volume Performance test using your applications. The IBM Performance Reports are only a guide. Like most apps, MQ will grab and utilise as many resources as it needs to perform the required messaging as fast as possible. _________________ Glenn |

MQ v9 publishes queue manager resource stats for CPU, disk etc. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error. |
