Can anybody tell me the sequence of steps needed to be followed for migrating from MQSI 2.1 to WMB5.0. I have gone through the manuals specifically migration manual for 5.0, but it is not that straight forward. So if somebody already worked on migration, can you please provide me the steps.
Also can you give me the issues/problems you encountered during this process..
Thanks _________________ Keka |

This is not a process that you can perform in Production without Integration Testing
The sources of information are wmbkm0306.pdf and the WBIMessage Brokers Infocenter - use the new download wbimb_help.zip
Ideally you want to work from a representative test environment that matches your Domain structure
The sequence of events is
1. Migrate the Config manager
2. Migrate the Brokers
For each machine
1. Perform all the preliminary tasks - stopping processes, exporting messageflows etc
2. Uninstall 2.1 - the important thing is to uninstall leaving the data - on Win32 don’t use the windows standard Add/Remove Software
3. Install all the prerequisites
4. Install WBIMB5 + install CSD1 - don't do anything with WBIMB5 until CSD1 is installed
wmbkm0306.pdf describes the process of migrating a Config manager quite well
mqsimigratetables upgrades the database but there is some manual intervention required depending on the complexity of your installation.
Version 5 Brokers need to be set up manually - follow the manual to record the appropriate information
Use mqsimigratemsgflows and mqsimigratemsgsets - check the logs to find out what worked and what failed
Version 2.1 Brokers can continue to run in your domain - I don't know how you would maintain them
Test your configuration for any problems - be prepared to iterate a migration until you understand what is required for your particular installation. _________________ Brian S. Crabtree
