I already installed WAS5.0 and now I want to use external Websphere MQ JMS provider. Do I have to unintall WAS first before installing MQ? or I just need to install MQ and configure WAS5.0 to use external websphere MQ? if 2nd options is doable, How do I do that?

Looking for the same solution. I'm trying to connect my WSAS5 to an external MQ (diff box). But so far I get a JNDI error when looking for the MQ JMS Provider qcf.

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure of the install order. I've never upgraded from embedded to full MQ. However, when I installed on an empty system, I went with MQ first then WAS (or is it now WSAS?).
As far as the definition of objects and having them found, I use the Admin Console and select the WebSphere MQ JMS resources. I then define my QCFs (filling out the queue manger field) and Q's (filling out the queue). I give them a name similar to myQCF and a jndi name of jms/myQCF. I then issue the lookup on jms/myQCF. |

My enviroment is Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP3 english
I did have problem like this first too while setup WebSphere MQ 5.3 and WAS 5.0.
I am not sure about MQS 5.2.1 but i think you can go the same way like using MQS 5.3.
First you have to Install MQS (for example: Server, Client, JavaMsg).
For MQS 5.3 the Fixpack CSD04 is needed befor setup WAS 5.0.
If you allready did try to install WAS5 take a look at C:\Documents and Settings\<Administrator>\Local Settings\Temp. There should be a file called "mq_prereq.log". In this file you should find information about prerequired fixpacks.
Since you have done all prerequired setups/fixes you should be able to install WAS 5 incl. embedded messaging.
Because of the prerequirements i think you have to install WAS 5 new after setup MQS.
If possible you should use the newest WebSphere MQ Version (I think it is 5.3 CSD04) because of support. |
