Hello Frinds,

can some help me how to upgrade fix pack from v7.5.0.3 to v7.5.0.4 on linux.
My clear question is do we need to unistall v7.5.0.3 all mq packages first then need to install v7.5.0.4..? or can directly proceed with v7.5.0.4 installation with out uninstall v7.5.0.3..?

Can some one clarify my doubt please

The fix packs are cumulative. You don't need to uninstall v7.5.0.3 but you can.

While fix packs are cumulative, they still require a base level of the product to install upon. I don't think 7.5.0.3 is a base level of the product (you will know by what you can download from Passport Advantage what levels are base). So yes, install over 7.5.0.3.

Check what current packages you have installed and upgrade only those. You will find instructions on the Maintenance pages of the Knowledge Center that explain how to list the packages.

I think you're right. The fact that the OP has v7.5..0.3 in place strongly implies that it was applied over a base version (v7.5.0.1? PA will confirm this as you correctly point out)

Latest full MQ product base is 7.5.0.2

MQ Clients however are available re-based at every fixpack (I wish the full version was as well).

Hi All,
Thanks a lot for your comments and your valuable time.My Apologies for type mistake below are currently running packages in Linux.
MQSeriesJRE-7.5.0-1
MQSeriesRuntime-7.5.0-1
MQSeriesServer-7.5.0-1
MQSeriesGSKit-7.5.0-1
MQSeriesSamples-7.5.0-1
MQSeriesClient-7.5.0-1
MQSeriesJava-7.5.0-1
MQSeriesMan-7.5.0-1

I have to upgrade FP0004 i.e 7.5.0.4 .
My brief plan is
1.Stop MQ
2.Uninstall the above packages i.e uninstall old MQ v7.5.0.1
3.install new packages after unzip and untar of 7.5.0-WS-MQ-LinuxX64-FP0004.tar.gz
4.start MQ

is that correct my dear friends, if not correct me.

Thanks in advance

BR, Ram

The correct answer is to read the migration documentation in the Knowledge Center for your version of WMQ and for your specific platform.

And then follow those instructions, not the ones given to you by a random set of people off the internet.

No it's wrong. You must have a base level installed before applying a fixpack on top.

There is no reason to remove anything in your case.

No it isn't.

Don't do this.

In fact don't do anything except stop MQ and follow the installation instructions for FP4 (which may actually say to stop MQ).

It's a good idea to have a backout plan. In your case, you are only changing the Fix level of the V.R.M.F part of the product version. To go back, you simply uninstall the product and install at the previous level. If you ever migrate (that is a change to the V.R part of the product version), then you cannot go back once the Qmgr is started.

You can backup a stopped Qmgr by TARing up the Qmgr's data ('/var/mqm/qmgrs/<QmgrName>) and log ('/var/mqm/log/<QmgrName>') directories. How to restore from here has been discussed at this site before.
