I will throw in another tidbit here for running listerners listeners on unix. The MQ developers recommened using inetd for versions prior to 5.3. So you should configure your entries in \etc\services and \etc\inet.conf if you are running 5.2. For 5.3 the reccommendation is to use runmqlsr.

Can you elaborate on this? I have always used, implemented or strongly suggested to use the inetd (using amqcrsta) solution and it has proven to be far more stable then runmqlsr...
so what has made runmqlsr better then inetd?
I just have seen too many runmqlsr crashes and none with inetd.

Sorry, I don't have much on the internals other than the thread model changed for runmqlsr in 5.3. I would give it a try again. I think you will find it more stable than on 5.2

Charlie,
pity you don't know more, but when it comes to listeners. I need more then give it a try... bitten too many times and as said inetd gives me good nightrest!

So unless someone points out some BIG benefit, i'll maybe try it on a test system...

Well the only benefit would come from running runmqlsr is that it is multithreaded and would reduce system resource requirements if you had
a lot of channels. However that said, I myself still use inetd method much more reliable you dont have all your eggs(channels) in one basket(process)
