Hi All,
During my day to days activity I found :
1. Some applications asked us CHLTAB file which they will use to connect to Queue Manager & QM side we will create the SVRCONN channels defination to use.
2. Some application don't ask any CHLTAB file. I only used to create the SVRCONN channel defination on QM & its enough for that application to connect to Queue Manager.
Can anybody give hints to me so that I can make suere when the CHLTAB file is erquired & when its not to connect to Queue Manager. |

A chl tab is never "required" to connect to the qmgr. However if you want to connect to any out of n qmgrs, whichever one is up, you want a channel table so that you don't have to code this behavior... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

My question would be as to what method the applications are using to connect to that SVRCONN, e.g. MQSERVER variable, MQCONNX? As regards when the CHLTAB file is 'required', that's up to your site standard which should mandate how applications will connect across a SVRCONN channel. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

As I remember,
The application which asked for the .TAB file, is using the MQ Client and MQCHLLIB & MQCHLTAB variables.
The application which hasn't asked for the .TAB file , using the JMS for the messagining. |

Mangesh,
There are many ways an MQ client can be configured with the information it needs in order to connect to an MQ server. The CCDT is just one of them. It is not, therefore, up to the MQ product itself to tell you when it is and isn't required, that is more a question for your application groups. Certainly if an application mandates the specification of MQCHLLIB then that would suggest they are using the CCDT but the reverse isn't true. In other words, if they don't require MQCHLLIB is doesn't imply that they aren't using the CCDT.
Cheers,
Paul. _________________ Paul Clarke
