I have spent 3 days trying to configure WMQI 2.1 with CSD02 on Windows 2000/NT4 without success...
1) I install WMQI 2.1 (Control Centre only) on my NT4 or Windows 2000 workstation and am able to connect to to the configuration manager over the LAN fine.
2) Next I install the CSD02 (U200171.EXE) and attempt to connect to the Configuration Manager without success. I select File/Connection to obtain the connection dialog and observe my connection parameters from step 1 are ok. I press OK and would expect the hourglass to appear while the connection is made. The hourglass flashes up very briefly, but no connection is made. Thereafter the whole Control Centre GUI is unresponsive and has to be closed from the Task Manager
3) If I uninstall CSD02 and reatart, I am able to connect to the Configuration Manager OK again.
Has anyone seen this before? Help, please  |

From your description it seems that you have a Control Centre only installation which is connecting to a remote configMgr. There was a problem with WMQI V2.1 CSD02 such that the logonInfo.dll file was not installed as part of the CSD installation for a Control Centre only machine. This can give the symptoms that you have described. Looking at the readme.txt file this was corrected in WMQI V2.1 CSD03 under IC33383. If you have installed CSD02 on your configMgr machine, then the advice given is to copy the logonInfo.dll and logonInfo.pdb files from the <wmqiInstall>\bin directory of your configMgr machine to the same directory on your Control Centre machine. Do not do this if you do not have CSD02 installed on your configMgr machine. But before doing any of this, check your Control Centre machine bin directory to make sure they are actually missing.

Craig,
thanks very much for your reply; yes it fixes the problem. I guess the readme that you refer to was the CSD03 one.
My colleagues all have local Brokers and ConfigMgrs, but I only want a ControlCentre. Was the LogonInfo.dll only introduced after the base 2.1 release?

Yes, I was referring to the CSD03 readme.txt ....sorry should have mentioned that. Im not sure if the loginInfo.dll was introduced in WMQI V2.1 CSD02. I thought it was just a case that during the CSD install process, the old files were removed, but the new ones were not put in place for a Control Centre installation upgrade. Glad to hear it is working for you.
