There are couple of technotes on how to extract the bar and edit the bar. Please search the IBM Support portal, you will find answers.

How come you want to access/edit the file directly instead of using mqsiapplybaroverride?

which deployment descriptor do you want to edit?

the one for the bar file? The one for an application or service inside the bar file? the one for a library inside an application or service inside the bar file?
