I tried to install MQ 5.3.0.2 on W2K Advanced server running in a MSCS. I am upgrading from MQ 5.2. I get about 70% into the install and I receive an AMQ4739 error. Then starts backing out the install. I took the server out of the cluster for the install. I put the server back into the cluster and tried the install again. I get the same error each time. I even tried un-installing MQ 5.2 and then installing MQ5.3, and I still get the same error. Has this happened to anyone? Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

The Messages manual says AMQ4739 means
Quote:
One or more problems occurred. Review the MSI log file for details.

Did you review your MSI log file? It will usually be buried in your temporary directory in your user profile. I believe that either the event log or the message box that pops up displaying the AMQ4739 will tell you the path to this MSI log file.

Regardless, you can't do the install while the queue manager is running. Or MQSeries itself.

Each time I tried to install MQ5.3, I stopped the QM and the service.

Okay. That's the right thing to do.

What you are probably seeing is that a dll is still being 'used', either through the Alert Manager or the services task bar Icon or incorrectly. The MSI log file would tell you which dll it is that is being used, and you can move or rename it so that the installer will put in the updated version.

Or you can restart your machine in Safe Mode (probably with networking) and try the install that way.

I have look into the MSI logs and seen that it could not open the amqpert.lic . Also, in the Application event viewer in w2k, it states that MQ could not update the amqmperf.dll. This could be the problem.

Hi,

Could you please check below things before start WMQ 5.3 installing?

1. Service Pack 2 or later best is Service pack 3 for W2K Adv Server.
2. MADC Version should be 2.5 or later by editing Registry Start --> Run--> regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DataAccess.
3. Disk Space.
4. JRE 1.3.1 or later, if installed then checked/set the path variable.
5. Close all the applications, Check the Windows Taskbar to be sure.
6. Start installing and check Perquisites when MSI Installer windows appear on the screen.

I hope this will help you and still your encountering same problem then could you try to install on another Server/Machine. If still encounters the same problem on another machine also then I guess something wrong with MQ 5.3 CD.

Do you have the Fresh license copy of IBM WMQ 5.3 or you have burned it to install?

There is an text, mscmigration.txt on the IBM MQSeries Support site.

Please Call IBM Support before installing MQ 5.3 on any MSCS environment. If you do not follow the documentation provided my IBM, you could lose the shared objects in the cluster.
