Yes I realise that, it's a standard pattern to transform messages received from external sources to the data model of an internal application, and nearly all the time they involve different formats.
Ensuring high fidelity semantics and lossless exchange is typically the more important consideration in my experience and that can often explain why some people choose to use namespace affinity and often a canonical data format
So my query (and that's all it is ... not telling you how to suck eggs) is really more about the external service that you are exposing to the third party(ies). This (presumably) is *your* responsibility, hence the choice of namespaces, canonical exchange format, et al are also yours.
