Hi all,

I was wondering why many SYS queues (like SYSTEM.AUTH.DATA.QUEUE) does not have msg persistance set to 'YES'?

I assume MQ system sets the persistence of OAM msg to yes while saving auth on above mentioned queue. But why not make this SYS queue as persistence by default ?

Thanks,
Abhijit

Because the 'applications' that use SYSTEM queues do not rely on the setting of the queue attribute - now stop and think why that may be.

got your point..

Someone can go ahead and change the persistence and MQ would loose its critical messages?? Would it be an answer to my stupid question?

Good, now you're actually thinking - next step, think through any question you're going to ask to determine whether you really need to ask it

SYSTEM.DEF objects are used as templates for the creation of your application objects. The initial values (not defaults) were set 'in concrete' decades ago; and for consistency, remain unchanged. You may alter these SYSTEM.DEF objects to reflect your IT organization policies.

Programmers get to decide at MQPUT time whether this message is to be persistent, non-persistent, OR to take on the persistence attribute value set at the queue.
