I've been asked if any CBT for WMB exists anywhere?
I'm not aware of such - anyone else heard of some? |

So the virtual/online still has a human at the other end?
Or is it actually interacting with software only?
It is fully automated - or semi-automated?
It probably would be suitable, but the reason I am being asked this question is the person asking it was looking for an inexpensive solution. It's quite pricey (although I am sure it's good). |

There is a "human at the end" version. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Again, the relevant choices for IBM education material are "instructor-led" or "self-paced".
The relevant options for "self-paced" are "online/virtual/remote".
The relevant options for "instructor-led" are "classroom" or "online/remote".
Instructor-led should obviously be more expensive than self-paced. |

And don't forget to follow-on with the 674 course once you complete the 664 course.

Training is an investment. Many lucky people have access to employer-sponsored investment options. Some of us use our own wages to invest in ourselves.
Cheap is not necessarily the best. When I buy a car, I don't choose the model with the least costly purchase price. I often choose a Honda that is a little more expensive than a Ford. I feel in the long run, the value I receive from my investment in a moderately-priced motor vehicle is greater value than if I had chosen the cheaper-priced Ford or Toyota since the Honda is more reliable.
Training is the same way. If you want to be a Java programmer, there are lots of low-cost options available to you. If you want to earn the big bucks that good WMB developers earn, you have to invest a little more money up front. If you don't have the personal or professional confidence in your own ability, then my advice to your friend would be stick to Java programming. _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

WMB courses are very expensive. About double the training budget per capita (during these difficult economic times) at my site.
Still not entirely clear, is a self-paced, remote online course entirely computer based? Or does an instructor review labs etc? |

self-paced has no involvement from an instructor at all, to the best of my knowledge.
There may be an opportunity to ask for specific assistance, but I don't think it's as comprehensive as you are suggesting. |
