Code:
SET Environment.Variables.myownvarchar = InputRoot.

The InfoCentre has lots of tips on using Environment. Have you Googled the relevant topics?

Are you a newbie in Broker?

Or a newbie in Java AND Broker?

You should only be a newbie in *one* of those at the same time, NOT both.

So if you are not very good at Java, and not very good at Broker, then you should stop trying to use Java IN Broker, and just learn Broker.

Once you learn and understand Broker, you can spend some time learning and understanding Java.

THEN, AFTER THAT, you can learn and understand how to use Java in Broker - it's much much easier then.

That aside, there are some basic topics that directly cover the answer to your question in the info center, so you at a minimum need to spend time learning how to use the info center.
