I assume you are setting the Composition to 'Unordered Set'. How about changing that to a repeating choice - you may find that MRM XML can detect your extra fields that way. The drawback would be that min/maxOccurs would not be validated for the members of the choice.

DECLARE parserOptions INTEGER BITOR(FolderBitStream,ValidateContentAndValue, ValidateException, ValidateComplete);

This should work. It worked for me.
