Hi,
We are using Websphere Message Broker version 8.0 on the Linux server and the DB2 database exist on the remote iSeries server.
I read in the IBM website that IBM i Access for Linux ODBC drivers can be used with applications to talk to remote database on iSeries but I'm not sure whether it can be used with message broker to connect to the remote database or not.
We don't have DB2 connect on the broker machine. Can someone please confirm whether IBM i Access for Linux drivers can be used as DB2 client drivers with message broker to talk to the remote DB2 on iSeries or not?
If it is possible, is there a document to configure the broker with IBM i Access for Linux drivers?
There are two supported methods of connecting to databases from Broker.
One is using JDBC, and any supported-by-the-database JDBC driver.
The other is using ODBC and any supported-by-broker ODBC driver.
There's no reason to ask the question you have asked. The documentation is explict on how to connect to DB2 from Message Broker using a supported ODBC driver.
Nobody here can give you an answer that will mean anything if you actually try this and it does or does not work.
Talk to your IBM sales team, get an official answer. If that official answer is somehow anything other than "NO", please let the rest of us know.
