Hi,
what is the recommended approach to master MB. InfoCenter seems like a good refrence but the way its organized is kind of annoying.
any useful tutorial/methodlogy recommended.
Thanks, |

Attend a training course. Get an experienced mentor.
Would you learn surgery from a book?
There is the IBM education assistant web site. |

There is an exceellent training course available. This leads you to getting your certifications. (Click the link at the top of the page)
DeveloperWorks has a number of articles that are worth looking at (even though some are a bit dated) if you are interested in a specific topic (eg SOAP).
Using the samples provided and extending them is also a good way to learn.
Then trying things out and when you are really stumped you could always ask here _________________ WMQ User since 1999

IBM education assistant website.
Why do people ignore this advice?, it's a great set of free presentations WITH audio. |

They are really professionally made!
There are also courses that are just a few hundred bucks, that they send you via postal mail (on a CD/DVD) which is introductory level, but probably also a good start.
Also there are some posts here (in this forum) that speak about (introductory level) best practices _________________ Just use REFERENCEs |

With a product of the depth & complexity of WMB you may not prefer training courses but they're still a good idea.
I prefer not to visit a doctor and have needles stuck in me, but it's better than guessing the type & doseage of medications I need.

You need to tread the rocky path. There's nothing wrong with self learning and the majority of us have done it. We're just advocating formal training as well. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Beginning in 2004, I went to three weeks of training per year while using the product. It wasn't until about the third or fourth year that I started to feel confident using the product. The annual Impact conference is also a good place to network and take classes. _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

What would mqsiuser do?! Be aggressive (on your training plan/goals): Do anything that might/can help you (including training courses (at the right time: first basic ones. After 1 or 2 years advanced courses)). The folder they give you on IBM Educations is already worth the money and very good for "your reference" during project conduction. You only stop with any possible(/available) option when you think/'are sure' that it/they won't add any more to your knowledge. On any unclear/uncertain topic get into discussion with (experienced) collegues and let them help you. Choose/'set up' your projects so that they (can) grow with you. Adjust your thoughts/measures if you found out you mis-estimated e.g. timelines. Make sure you don't crash your project/company with potentially wrong estimations _________________ Just use REFERENCEs |
