Hello!

I am a novice MQ consultant. I want to know how to use MQFM. What is the difference between running it as a window service or otherwise? I read the user manual and tried running a sample file . The MQFM processes it but it is not opening the queue and writing the message. Please someone help me with it.

Sample file that I used.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
<!DOCTYPE MQFM_Workflow (View Source for full doctype...)>
- <MQFM_Workflow>
- <Global>
- <MQ>
<MQFile>Filename.xml</MQFile>
<QueueName>TEST.QL</QueueName>
</MQ>
</Global>
- <Actions>
- <Watch delete="N" format="N" priority="-1" persistence="Y">
<WatchFile>test_watch.xml</WatchFile>
</Watch>
</Actions>
</MQFM_Workflow>

Hi Michael,

Thank you. It did help. But, can you tell me the difference between running MQFM as a window service and without it?

It is exactly the same difference as running any other program X as a windows service or not running said program X as a windows service.

You need to understand how windows operates and how it operates programs as services. This is vital to understanding things like how trigger monitors run, or don't, and how MQ service objects execute (or don't) and how the qmgr itself executes.

This is what is known as an Exciting Learning Opportunity. So go forth and *learn*.
