We have re-enabled it from this morning.
All things we could have checked on and prevent have been done. Most of the offending IP addresses should by now be restricted. But these types are a dangerous and tricky bunch of criminals, they will get to, steal and/or buy new ones ..... .
We strongly recommend:
- disable PMs in your profiles if you do not want to be at risk.
- those PMs you were sent a couple of weeks ago and claiming to be from the site, most likely contain harmful and dangerous URLs in them. DO NOT click those URLs.
- remain on Alert for any newly arriving PMs from members you have not had regualr contact with, or whose subject field and/or signature are claiming to be from the site admin or other senior members and moderators BUT the sending name does not match.
bottom line: be very careful. |

PM has again been disabled. There are reports of some 'potential' spam on the way to members inboxes. We have taken a few preventitive and correction actions.

Any further update on this? I'd like to PM one of the board members. _________________ Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man. - The Dude |

Post in open forum - we have no secrets here, and not enough gossip.
Of course, only invitations to drinking events would be PM'd anyway; all technical conversations are public. (Which is not to say drinking invitations can't be public....)
I've not heard of any plans to re-enable the PM function. But I don't even work here. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

We all learn when posts are public. I don't recall receiving a PM that was really private. Nearly all were attempts to get into further detail about an OP. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Yeah, well, it's not a drinking invite (not that I couldn't use one about now) or a technical question.
Let's just say I might want to consider other employment opportunities _________________ Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man. - The Dude |

Might I suggest a guarded post in the Job Seekers section? I'm assuming the issue being your management frequent the forum?
The Job Postings posts that you'd want to apply to have contact information. Those that don't bother to quote an external email or a phone number probably don't bother with other details. Like paying invoices promptly. Or being real. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

You might also consider creating a new id that is not as readily associated with your current situation...
Edited To ADD:
Please also remember the MQSeries group on linkedin - particularly if you are looking to make professional connections for purposes of career enrichment. You might be able to find the person you wish to contact there and use either linked in messaging or otherwise get a real email address... |
