The normal approach is first to apply the latest base build. Which is 7.0.1.3.
Yes, you could install 7.0.1.0 and then apply 7.0.1.6 immediately. But I can't see the point and there could be bugs in the installation/upgrade process that are fixed in 7.0.1.3 base. IBM don't re-base versions for no reason. |

Thanks all for your valuable comments.
Dear zpat -
Things got delayed at my client's and so I am yet to do the migration sometime in a week from now. So I have downloaded the WMQ Fix Pack 7.0.1.3. And the current version we are at is WMQ 6.0.2.5.
Since I have not done this before, i.e., install a refreshed distribution, I wish to confirm whether it will be really fine to apply the FP v7.0.1.3 directly which you quoted as a re-base version.
Or is there an additional link to download the same 7.0.1.3 version as a refreshed distribution? So basically am I to understand that I do not need to migrate WMQ to the base version 7.0.1 but directly go to 7.0.1.3?
Please bear with me here and kindly clarify. _________________ Thanks a lot.

A fixpack is not a base version.
There is a re-based version at 7.0.1.3, this is not the same package as the 7.0.1.3 fixpack.
If you install a fixpack, it might as well be 7016, but this requires a base install first.
Fixpacks are available online. The rebased version is in Passport Advantage. |

Thank you. I looked up the Passport Advantage two weeks ago and below are all that I found relevant for our AIX v5 platform installation.
WebSphere Message Broker V7.0.0.1 AIX Multilingual(CZED4ML)
WebSphere MQ V7.0.1 for AIX Multilingual(CZ4V7ML)
WebSphere Message Broker Toolkit V7.0.0.1 Windows 1 Multilingual(CZEE2ML)
WebSphere Message Broker Toolkit V7.0.0.1 Windows 2 Multilingual(CZEE3ML)
WebSphere Message Broker Toolkit V7.0.0.1 Windows 3 Multilingual(CZEE4ML)
I did not find anything related to WMQ v7.0.1.3 or its re-base version. There is just the v7.0.1 for AIX available as mentioned above. I am not sure what I am missing at this point.
If you are sure about the availability of the v7.0.1.3 re-base version, please see if you can send me the link to it.
I have mentioned below the download criteria I used:
Your download criteria
Product name: IBM WebSphere Message Broker
Language: English International
Platform: AIX 5
Previous versions: Yes
Associated products: Yes - None found
Thanks a lot. _________________ Thanks a lot.

Notice that the last digit of the version is conveniently absent? This is because IBM reserves the right to rebase...
So try it already and check @ which FP you are after installation.
Like zpat said, you might want to progress to 7.0.1.6 regardless.
Have fun _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

7.0.1 is not the same as 7.0.0.1 (and not the same as 7.1)
IBM like to leave space for a few hundred versions just in case!
Confusing.. just a bit! |

I think you missed the part where 7.0.0.1 was for WMB and not for WMQ _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Dear fjb_saper,
Your response was pretty interesting asking me to note the absence of the last digit in the MQ software version 7.0.1.
So I tried installing this on my Windows desktop (installed the Windows version) and I arrived at the version 7.0.1.0 but not the FP 7.0.1.3.
So I further tried applying the FP 7.0.1.3 on top of this on Windows. This successfully got upgraded and the current version now shows to be 7.0.1.3.
Now in the Passport Advantage, the product code for WebSphere MQ V7.0.1 for AIX Multilingual is CZ4V7ML.
P.S: But, would any of you actually be able to tell me what the product code for the refresh distribution of WMQ 7.1.0.3 is? Is it the same as CZ4V7ML?
I will try upgrading WMQ on our AIX with the available version 7.0.1 (CZ4V7ML) and then directly apply the FP 5 on top of it. It will be great if one of you can meanwhile provide me with the product code for the refresh distribution if you happen to know.
Regards. _________________ Thanks a lot.

I'm pretty sure there was a WMQ 7.0.0.1. _________________ Peter Potkay

I think he means what is the file name.
Does it matter? If you have access to passport advantage it will be obvious what the latest base version is. |
