I have a system with quite a few Q managers. All of them have the same Qs and channels (they are named the saming thing every where except production).

How can I use MO71 to set up a remote configuration? I kept on getting the same QMgr error when I use the QMgr option....

You can use a bat file to invoke the mqmonntp.exe. For example,
In the bat file type:

Set MQSERVER= SYSTEM.DEF.SVRCONN/TCP/111.111.11.1(1414)

C:\MQMON\mqmonntp.exe

Place this file on your desktop and execute it. This will open the MO71 program and connect to the Queue Manager defined in the MQSERVER statement.

Once you've opened up the program, press Ctrl+A to add a new connection.

You'll notice a check box that says "Client". Tick that and use the Configuration button next to it to specify the SVRCONN channel name and the connection name details.
