Hello,
We have a cluster of queue managers with queue manager in V6.0 and V5. Is there a problem if we introduce a queue manager with V7 in the same cluster and all queue managers are running?
We need this for migration of MQ and MB to V7
Thanks in advance. |

If you have any queue managers still running at v5 clustered or not it's an issue if not a problem.....
In a mixed cluster the FRs should be at v7 before any of the PRs are.
As to what a v5 clustered queue manager will make of a v7 queue manager, who knows? I doubt it's been tested given v5's been out of support for a while. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Thanks Vitor, for your reply. Should we try to move forward with upgrading the Queue Managers in V5 first to V6, because Queue managers in V5 are all partial repositories and full repositories are in V6 only.
We definitely need to upgrade the FRs to V7. Can one full repository QM be in V6 and another full repository QM in V7 ?
thanks for help.! |

Can be, yes.
Shouldn't be.
Skip updating anything to v6, move everything you can to v7. |

Plan to do both in quick succession (but not at the same time for obvious reasons!) and certainly before any of the PRs are v7.

Once the FRs are at v7, it's an unnecessary step going v5->v6->v7 _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

What I understand for my action Item is :
1) Upgrade one full repository from V6 to V7 first, the other full repository remains in V6 for a short period of time.
(Each full repository queue manager is associated with a broker V6.0.2 which would be migrated at the same point to V7.0)
2) Upgrade the other full repository to V7 in a quick succession.
3) Once both the full repositories are at V7 upgrade the partial ones to V7 directly.
Please correct me If I am wrong in any point. |

That's a good general plan.
I can think of no good reason why a v6.0.2 broker would not run on a v7 queue manager if you wanted to do the upgrade in stages. But I can also see that there's an advantage to doing both at the same time if you need to minimize downtime. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I don't think it's ever been officially supported, but it does actually run.
And of course, Broker v6 is not supported any more anyway. |
