Hi,

We are using NEONFormatter with MQSI 202, and have run the Consistency Checker utility prior to migrating the formats to WMQI 2.1. Amongst other thing the Consistency Checker has flagged several "Formats with no permissions". The explanation of this error is "Permissions should exist. Users will be unable to modify these components."

We also have many "Permissions with nonexistent format IDs" and similar error with explanation "The permission data is orphaned because Formatter data was not completely removed."

The symptom of this in the Formatter GUI is the Security pane being greyed out for the problem formats, and we cannot edit them so they have just been abandoned.

Any suggestions how we can sort these out?

Here is a shot in the dark....I haven't played with the Formatter in a while. The most straightforward method that I would try is this:

1. Export everything in the database using NNFie:

NNFie -e myFormats.fie

2. Wipe out the NNSY database (use a refresh from the instdb file)

3. Reimport everything. This should establish the user id as the permissions holder:

NNFie -i myFormats.fie

NOTE:

Please backup your NNSY database first, just in case. : )

Good luck (I hate permissions on formatter elements)!

Thanks. I have not resolved the problem in the 202 database but importing the formats into the 2.1 database did the trick of reinstating permissions.
